LYRIC INDUSTRIAL

Portland's lush greenery and old industry make for a lyrical combination of forms that is a painter's dream. The light reminds me of the cool light in Normandy, where I painted for a summer with my teacher, Jason Berger, whose work remains a strong influence. Some of these paintings may reflect the recent climate changes and the economic fragility of this city, but despite strong feelings on such issues, my paintings do not have any agenda other than the mystery and the pleasure of looking.
